One of Tokyo Game Show 2026's most appealing pieces of retro hardware is not a console at all. Unico's TRAVELLER ULW10 is a modern LCD monitor deliberately designed to resemble the professional CRT and PVM displays commonly associated with classic gaming setups. The compact display uses a roughly 10-inch 4:3 panel running at 1280x960 and 60Hz, giving older games a native-looking aspect ratio without requiring players to maintain an increasingly elderly CRT television. Connectivity includes HDMI and VGA for modern equipment together with RGBs analogue input for compatible classic systems. Composite, S-Video and component are not built in, meaning systems limited to those outputs will require suitable converters or RGB modifications. Unico has gone further than simply putting a square screen inside an old-fashioned shell. Physical image-adjustment controls sit beneath the screen, while the deliberately deep CRT-style body contains a storage compartment large enough for a small PC, console or cables. The monitor is currently crowdfunding through Kickstarter, with early pricing beginning at $289 and the regular Kickstarter tier listed at $299. For players who want a dedicated modern display for 4:3 consoles without filling the spare room with twenty-five kilograms of ageing glass, the ULW10 could occupy a very useful middle ground.
