Tomb Raider Celebrates Thirty Years With Official Lo-Fi Soundtrack Collection and New Lara Croft Dialogue
Crystal Dynamics and musician That Norsk Chick release the official Tomb Raider Lo-Fi Collection celebrating 30 years with reimagined tracks and new voice lines.
Lara Croft's thirtieth anniversary celebrations have continued with the release of an official Tomb Raider Lo-Fi Collection, transforming music from the long-running adventure series into a collection of relaxed contemporary arrangements. Announced during the anniversary festivities and highlighted on October 27, the project has been produced by musician That Norsk Chick, also known as Amandolin Rostykus, in collaboration with Crystal Dynamics. The collection revisits music associated with several generations of Tomb Raider games, including the original adventures, the Legend and Anniversary era, and the Underworld trilogy. Rather than simply reproducing the original recordings, the arrangements reinterpret familiar melodies through the softer textures and rhythms associated with lo-fi music. The source material includes compositions originally created by musicians such as Nathan McCree, Peter Connelly, Martin Iveson, Troels B. Folmann and several later contributors to the franchise. Additional dialogue has been recorded by Lara Croft voice actor Alix Wilton Regan, providing a connection between the musical project and the character's contemporary presentation. Artist Tholia has also created animated illustrations depicting Lara relaxing and working inside Croft Manor. The release forms part of a wider celebration marking three decades since Tomb Raider first appeared in 1996 and helped establish cinematic three-dimensional action-adventure gaming as a major commercial genre. The original game's combination of exploration, environmental puzzles and atmospheric music remains influential today. The anniversary playlist offers a different way to revisit that legacy without requiring players to navigate another collapsing temple. After thirty years of ancient curses, dangerous animals and extremely questionable architecture, Lara Croft has probably earned the opportunity to enjoy a quiet afternoon with some music.
