SuperStation One Transparent Collection Opens Pre-Orders, and Two Colours Are Already Gone

RetroRemake opens pre-orders for its limited Transparent Collection SuperStation One MiSTer FPGA console, with Smoke and Watermelon shells selling out immediately.

RetroRemake has opened pre-orders for a limited Transparent Collection of its SuperStation One FPGA console, proving once again that the fastest way to make retro hardware enthusiasts reach for their wallets is to let them see the circuit board. Five frosted shell variants were offered: Smoke, Watermelon, Emerald, Frost and Atomic Purple. By the morning of October 7, Smoke and Watermelon were already sold out, while Emerald, Frost and Atomic Purple remained available. RetroRemake says these are genuinely limited variants: once the allocated transparent shells are gone, it does not intend to manufacture another batch. The machines cost $249.99 / £189 before shipping and possible import charges, with December currently given as the expected shipping window. Buyers using the preorder-bonus code before October 12 can receive either a Bluetooth receiver or AV cable, and some remaining Founders Edition motherboards are being randomly distributed among orders. Underneath the transparent wardrobe remains the interesting bit: SuperStation One is a MiSTer-derived FPGA system aimed particularly at PlayStation-era hardware reproduction rather than conventional software emulation. Limited shells do not improve frame timing, of course, but that has never stopped transparent plastic from exercising its strange power over anyone who survived the late 1990s. The Smoke version apparently became even more transparent by disappearing entirely.
