Star Bashers Launches on Amiga 1200 With Physics-Inspired Puzzle Action

Independent developer BlitterForge has released Star Bashers, a new puzzle game designed for the standard Commodore Amiga 1200. The project draws inspiration from the familiar structure of physics-based destruction games, placing players in control of small creatures attempting to defeat an invading mechanical army. The story takes place in the fictional Bashoria star system, where the villainous Lord Grumbletron has stolen nine Gravity Crystals and disrupted the balance of the surrounding planets. Players must attack fortified enemy positions across nine stages, using launched characters to destroy structures and recover the missing crystals. The developer describes Star Bashers as a deliberately modest production rather than an elaborate commercial-scale project. It requires Kickstart 3.0 and is intended to operate without additional memory or accelerator hardware. Testing has also been performed using WinUAE with Kickstart 3.1. Mouse controls are recommended, with the right mouse button providing access to special abilities. BlitterForge acknowledges using AI-assisted development tools during production. The game is distributed as a free Amiga disk image. Its release is interesting because physics-inspired destruction games are rarely associated with the Amiga's original commercial period. Modern development tools allow creators to revisit gameplay concepts that became popular long after Commodore disappeared from the mainstream computer market. Whether Star Bashers reproduces the complexity of its modern inspirations remains a question for hands-on testing. Nevertheless, its premise is entertainingly straightforward: when an evil emperor steals the universe's gravity, the obvious solution is to start throwing angry creatures at buildings.
