Polymega Hardware Prices Are Going Up Sharply From October 5

Playmaji announces significant price hikes across its Polymega modular retro console ecosystem starting October 5, 2026, citing memory, chip and supply chain pressures.

Playmaji has announced a substantial round of price increases across much of the Polymega retro-gaming hardware range, with the changes taking effect on October 5, 2026. The modular Polymega Base Unit will rise to $599, while the Polymega Remix will cost $229. Element Module Sets will move to $99, depending on the specific module, and RC-Series wired controllers will increase to $35. Other products, including the company's physical Polymega Collection game releases, are currently unaffected. Playmaji says rising manufacturing costs are behind the decision, particularly increased prices for memory, chips and other electronic components. The company specifically points toward enormous investment in AI data centres as increasing competition for components also used in consumer electronics. Higher fuel and shipping costs are adding further pressure. Existing customers have at least been given a short grace period: orders placed before October 5 will retain current pricing. Playmaji has also reopened preorders for most products, with holiday 2026 shipping currently targeted. Polymega has always occupied the premium end of the retro-console market, combining CD-based systems with optional cartridge modules, so pushing the Base Unit alone to $599 makes the all-in cost of a fully equipped system considerably more substantial.
