FunnyPlaying reveals full specifications for the FPGB Mini, a compact cartridge-playing FPGA Game Boy featuring an 800x720 IPS display, removable battery, and microSD support.

FunnyPlaying has revealed substantially more information about the FPGB Mini, its compact cartridge-based handheld designed for original Game Boy and Game Boy Color software. The system combines a real 32-pin cartridge slot with microSD support, giving players the option of using their physical collection or loading compatible game files. At the centre of the machine is a 2.98-inch IPS display with an unusually high 800x720 resolution and a 10:9 aspect ratio, packed into a body clearly inspired by Nintendo's original Game Boy. MicroSD cards formatted as FAT32 are supported up to 32GB, while the battery is removable rather than permanently sealed inside the unit. FunnyPlaying is also supporting multiplayer and link functionality, although that requires a dedicated USB-C link cable sold separately. The company warns that compatibility with flash cartridges and clone cartridges is not guaranteed, an important point for collectors with EverDrive-style hardware. Taken together, the specifications make the FPGB Mini one of the more interesting new FPGA-oriented Game Boy devices, especially for players who still want to use original cartridges rather than relying entirely on software emulation.
