FunnyPlaying FPGB Mini Launches at $69.99 and First Batch Sells Out Almost Immediately

FunnyPlaying unexpectedly opens sales of its tiny FPGB Mini cartridge-playing handheld at $69.99, selling out its initial 20-unit run in roughly ten minutes.

FunnyPlaying has unexpectedly opened sales of its tiny FPGB Mini handheld, turning this week's specification reveal into an actual hardware launch. The first batch was extraordinarily small, consisting of only 20 units, and reports indicate the entire allocation sold out in roughly ten minutes. Early buyers paid approximately $69 to $69.99. FunnyPlaying says another 30 to 50 units are expected, although these will apparently not be offered until after China's upcoming holiday period while the company continues making improvements. The FPGB Mini combines a physical 32-pin slot for original Game Boy and Game Boy Color cartridges with microSD support for compatible game files. Its 2.98-inch IPS display runs at 800x720 pixels, while the handheld itself measures approximately 113x64x22mm and weighs around 135 grams with its battery installed. The 1800mAh battery is rated for roughly four to six hours of use. Other features include a real-time clock, USB-C charging and link functionality, microSD support up to 32GB and a built-in speaker. Early hands-on testing has revealed some limitations. Cartridges with unusually large rumble housings may not fit correctly, and the power switch on the first units has been described as rather loose. The tiny launch batch therefore appears to function partly as an early production run before wider availability.
