Bruce Lee Arrives on Amiga Through a New Conversion of the Sega Master System Fan Game

Tim Kovack (TjLaZer) releases an Amiga conversion of the Sega Master System version of Bruce Lee, translating Z80 code into Motorola 68000 for OCS, ECS, and AGA Commodore computers.

Developer Tim Kovack, better known as TjLaZer, has released a new Amiga conversion of Kagesan's 2015 Sega Master System version of Bruce Lee. The October 8 release is available as a bootable ADF floppy image and a standalone AmigaDOS executable, allowing players to run it from disk or launch it through a compatible Amiga environment. Rather than recreating the gameplay entirely from scratch, Kovack translated the original Master System game's Z80 logic into Motorola 68000 code, preserving its underlying behaviour while adapting graphics and input handling to Commodore hardware. The result supports OCS, ECS and AGA machines, PAL and NTSC displays and Kickstart 1.3 or later. Memory requirements have been reduced to approximately 310KB, meaning an ordinary 512KB Amiga 500 should be sufficient. Several revisions have already addressed graphical positioning, flickering sprites, slowdown and incorrect item collection. The current version also provides optional alternative jump controls, keyboard support and the expected joystick operation. NTSC machines run at the original 60Hz timing, while PAL systems operate at 50Hz. The conversion is distributed free through itch.io, with optional donations, and its developer discloses AI assistance with code. Bruce Lee has enjoyed an unusually long afterlife across home computers and fan projects, and this latest version continues that tradition. Apparently the legendary martial artist is still perfectly capable of finding another computer to conquer more than forty years after his original videogame appearance.
