Battle Arena Toshinden Trilogy Returns on Modern Hardware and Appears at TGS 2026
Edia showcases a playable modern collection of the original 3D weapon fighting Battle Arena Toshinden PlayStation trilogy at Tokyo Game Show 2026.
Edia has reconfirmed development of a modern Battle Arena Toshinden collection and is demonstrating the project at Tokyo Game Show 2026. The package brings together the first three main PlayStation entries: Battle Arena Toshinden, Battle Arena Toshinden 2 and Battle Arena Toshinden 3. All three were prominent during the early years of Sony's first console, with the original Toshinden becoming one of the most visually striking showcases surrounding the PlayStation's arrival. Developed by Tamsoft and published by Takara, the series used weapon-based polygonal combat at a time when home 3D fighting games were still a novelty. Edia's collection is currently being shown under a provisional Toshinden Collection title and is intended for current hardware. Shared-screen multiplayer is also being highlighted. The selection is deliberately limited to the first three PlayStation games: Toshinden 4 is not included, nor are spin-offs and alternate versions such as Battle Arena Toshinden Remix on Saturn, Nitoshinden on PlayStation or Nettou Toshinden on Game Boy. Release platforms, pricing and a final launch date still need to be confirmed, but the playable TGS appearance shows that the revival has progressed beyond an early announcement.
