ADAM 1.0.1 Lets Anyone Create Real Amiga Games Without Writing Code and Now Supports macOS

Polytricity releases ADAM 1.0.1, a visual no-code Amiga game creation environment with macOS support, bootable ADF export, and FS-UAE emulator integration.

The Amiga development scene has gained an intriguing new creation tool designed for enthusiasts who want to make games without learning assembly language. ADAM, short for Amiga Dev and Art Machine, has reached version 1.0.1 following its initial public launch, with new macOS support and improved emulator integration receiving coverage on October 13. Developed by Polytricity, the application allows users to create games for the Amiga 500, Amiga 600 and Amiga 1200 through visual editing tools and simple rules written in ordinary language. Instead of programming collision routines manually, creators can define behaviour using instructions such as triggering a score increase when a character touches an object. ADAM generates bootable ADF disk images that can run on compatible emulators or original hardware. The editor supports hardware sprites, background artwork, basic enemy behaviours, multiple levels and audio tools. Amiga 500 and 600 projects can use sixteen-colour backgrounds, while Amiga 1200 projects support larger palettes. Version 1.0.1 improves integration with FS-UAE, making testing more convenient. A free Lite edition allows users to create and distribute complete games, while the $10 Pro edition adds larger sprites, additional painting tools and support for more moving actors through blitter objects. The developer is continuing to expand the software, but important limitations remain. Current projects are primarily simple single-screen arcade and platform games rather than scrolling adventures or elaborate RPGs. Nevertheless, ADAM could make original Amiga development accessible to an entirely new audience. Forty years ago, making a game often required considerable programming knowledge. Now the difficult part may simply be deciding what sort of game to create.
